iZombie “Spanking the Zombie” Review

iZombie “Spanking the Zombie” Review

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Since last year at Comic Con when the cast let slip that Liv was going to be on Dominatrix’s brain at one point during this season, I couldn’t wait. Finally, the time has come, and I loved every second of the awkward sexual overtones in the episode. This is one of the best episodes in a long time and full of humor and that ending… dear iZombie Gods (Rob Thomas, I’m looking at you, buddy), please don’t take Major from us. We’ve lost too much. First Lowell, then Drake. Pleaseeeeee.

Besides all the kinkery going on with the Dominatrix’s brain, Liv and Clive are still looking into the murder of Wally and his family. They still feel like their guy, Harley Jones looks good for the murder. When Cavanaugh tells them to back off, Liv takes matters into her hands and brings Fillmore Graves into the mix. They tell Harley that they are compensating him for his brother’s death but instead use the opportunity to bug his car and find out more about the zombie-hating community.

The biggest and most emotional shock of the whole episode was not that Fillmore Graves has bugged someone’s car but that Major has now been forced to take the cure as his situation has worsened and he is left with no choice. The emotional punch in the gut that the end of the episode was left me in tears. Major and Liv’s love for each other, Ravi and his love for his best friend, it was all too much and too fast. We were so focused on Liv and the craziness of the Dominatrix brain that we didn’t realize where the show was going.

iZombie still manages to elicit tons of emotion from its audience. The characters are well-developed and well-loved. The stories are always engaging and entertaining. iZombie is at the top of its game in Season 3. Leaving us with so much going on, we are sure to have an amazing next couple of episodes. We wait to see the fate of the ever gorgeous Major Lilywhite and the fate of zombies now that the threat of their discovery is real.
