Not long after the news of two powerhouse actors — Giancarlo Esposito and Christopher Walken — joining the cast of Disney’s upcoming live action/animation film The Jungle Book comes news that another strong performer has been added to the cast list. Reports say that Bill Murray will be joining The Jungle Book as the iconic character Baloo the Bear.
Baloo the Bear is a loyal friend to the film’s lead character, a young boy named Mowgli, and tries convincing Mowgli to leave the jungles of India for a better life out in the real world. He also must protect Mowgli from an evil tiger named Shere Khan while teaching him the rules of the jungle.
Murray is no stranger to doing voiceover work, as he played Badger in 2009’s Fantastic Mr. Fox and Garfield in 2004 and 2006’s Garfield films.
The Jungle Book is due to hit theaters on October 9, 2015 and will be helmed by director Jon Favreau.
