For the week of April 29, several of 2014’s first theatrical releases arrive on Blu-ray this Tuesday. First this week is Renny Harlin’s (Die Hard 2) mythological adaptation, The Legend of Hercules. Also due out this week are found footage film, Devil’s Due from Fox and drama Labor Day from Paramount.
The Legend of Hercules is the first of two Hercules adaptations due out in 2014. The other is due out in theaters this July from director Brett Ratner and stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. In this version, Kellan Lutz of Twilight fame stars as the Greek demigod. This Hercules falls in love with a princess of Crete, who in turn was intended for another.
The Legend of Hercules arrives from Lionsgate Films in a 3D combo pack. The set includes both a 2D and 3D version of the film plus an UltraViolet digital copy. Special features include an audio commentary from Lutz and director Harlin plus a 15-minute extra.
Fox Home Entertaiment debuts paranormal film Devil’s Due on home media this Tuesday. Devil’s Due follows a young couple obsessed with detailing every moment of their lives with a camera. After a mysterious honeymoon abroad, the two find out they’ll be parents. However, strange events transpire as the child could possibly be the Anti-Christ.
Fox is packaging Devil’s Due as a Blu-ray combo pack that also includes a DVD and UltraViolet digital copy.

Director Jason Reitman’s (Juno, Up in the Air) latest drama Labor Day wraps up this week’s main new releases. Based on the Joyce Maynard novel of the same name, Labor Day stars Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin. Winslet is a single mom raising her 13-year-old son, who crosses paths with Brolin’s character, an escaped convict. Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing Labor Day as a Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD combo pack.
