Charm City Kings is a coming-of-age story that immerses us in the world of dirt bike culture in Baltimore, MD. Raw and authentic, it’s a love letter to the culture. Even though it may seem like a story we’ve seen before, it is also timely yet timeless and a story that needs to be told over and over again, each time with its own little flare and nuances. Director Angel Manuel Soto and his crew let us see the culture and the city as it is — good and bad, beautiful and gritty. Recently, we sat down with the director and the star of the film, Jahi D’Allo Winston to talk about respect for the culture and being as authentic as possible while working with certain challenges and what they hope viewers will take away from this film.
