Dave Bautista Reportedly Lands Role as Villain in “Bond 24”

by Justin Cook

After earning very positive reviews playing Drax the Destroyer in this summer’s smash hit Guardians of the Galaxy, actor Dave Bautista may be joining the cast of new James Bond film, due out in 2015.

Movie news website Latino-Review reported the news today that Bautista will most likely be playing an evil henchman named Hinx, similar to iconic Bond villains Oddjob and Jaws, in what will be the 24th Bond film.

Bautista is not officially confirmed to be playing the part, but we may very well be seeing him in a Bond film come next year. This report comes only a week after the news that actress Lea Seydoux is in talks to join the movie as the main Bond Girl.

The leaked casting breakdown sent out by Bond 24 producers for the role of Hinx reads as follows:

“Hinx (Male, 30-45)”

“Ideally over 6’2’’. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.”

“Height: 180cm-195cm”

The wrestler-turned-actor surprised audiences with his strong acting chops and expert comedic timing in the most recent Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy. Despite having acted in only a few movies before Guardians, Bautista gave the performance his all, and pleased comic book fans and casual moviegoers alike.

Sam Mendes, director of the last entry in the James Bond franchise, Skyfall, will be returning to helm the next film, along with Daniel Craig who will be playing James Bond for the fourth time. Craig has played Bond in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall.

The movie is also set to star Naomie Harris, Ben Winshaw, Ralph Fiennes, and Rory Kinnear. It will begin shooting this December for its November 6, 2015 release date.
