I grew up with the original Ninja Turtles. I remember watching the animated series, begging my parents to buy me the action figures, and going to see all three feature films in the theater. Needless to say, I was a Ninja Turtle addict when I was younger.
Now, Jonathan Liebesman is teaming up with Michael Bay to bring the Turtles back to the silver-screen. The posters and trailers thus far have done very little to wow me and this latest trailer (see below) definitely makes me fear that this film will not be anywhere near as good as the first two original films where back in 1990 and 1991.
In my opinion, the voices for the turtles seem really off and the special effects look like your standard Michael Bay action film. This new trailer seems to poke fun at pop culture and that annoys me considering something like this doesn’t need to mock pop culture since it is a part of it. In addition, I don’t like that Liebesman decided to cast Megan Fox as April and that they made Shredder into this huge robot creature. There is no doubt that I will see the film considering I am a huge fan of these characters, but I am afraid of this film. Leonardo, Donatello, Rafael, and Michelangelo were a big part of my childhood and I can only hope that Michael Bay and his gang don’t completely rape my childhood.
