SUMMARY OF THOUGHTS: Gravity features masterful direction, visuals, and performances, all providing for a near-perfect movie-going experience.

Following Children of Men was no easy task for Cuaron. But he did it perfectly! Gravity was so good and so intense! The performances of Clooney and Bullock were magnificent. I actually think it’s Bullocks best performance. The lack of sound helped set the mood and made it more intense and scary. All I can say is see it in IMAX 3D! It’s money well spent. Gravity is Oscar-worthy!

It’s hard to nitpick such a unique and praised cinematic achievement. The opening shot alone is directed better than most full Hollywood films to date. Every scene and shot worked wonders in this film, and with two great performances to follow and root for, it’s really hard to not get sucked into this never ending world of space. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, always had no idea what would happen, and couldn’t recommend this film enough. Alfonso Cuaron, please stick around for a while.

Gravity is an outstanding film. Visually, it looks beautiful and phenomenal. The performances by Sandra Bullock and George Clooney are fantastic. It is filmed with true creativity and originality, and the direction by Alfonso Cuaron is brilliant. It does get a bit boring in a couple of moments, felt rushed in a few scenes, and it ended abruptly a little, but that doesn’t take away the fact that the experience was just wonderful. It may not be a masterpiece from my point of view, but it sure as hell was an outstanding experience that deserves to be given a chance in cinemas.

Hopefully this film will be a Best Picture Nominee at the Oscars come January. This film was as close to perfection as a film can get. Sandra Bullock delivers one of the best performances so far this year and in her career. George Clooney was great as well. I was impressed with Alfonso Cuaron’s courage to take on such technology. This film blew my mind. See the film in either 3D or IMAX 3D. I highly recommend this film.

I can’t find anything wrong with this film because I was completely emotionally engaged with the entire movie! I’ve missed you, Alfonso Cuarón, and it was worth the seven year wait!

For the first half, I was digging the movie, but I wasn’t loving it. It wasn’t until something happens to a certain character that made me go gaga over this movie. Wow, is this an amazing movie. The visuals are outstanding, the score is amazing, and Sandra Bullock gives possibly the best performance of her career. If you see this movie, see it on the biggest 3D screen you can. You’ll thank me later.

  • Matt Marshall:

Grade: A

It’s very rare for a movie to stay on my mind days after seeing it. The only exception this year has been The Place Beyond the Pines. Now Gravity joins its company. Alfonso Cuaron has done a masterful job at creating the modern-day space thriller with award-deserving cinematography and a gripping narrative.

Do I really need to explain myself? Okay, well, not only does this movie have some of the best visual effects and CGI I’ve ever seen, but it also felt incredibly real and the acting by both Sandra Bullock and George Clooney was incredible. Alfonso Cuaron did any amazing job directing this beautiful yet terrifying and suspenseful film that makes me never want to go to space, but makes me appreciate the fact that I’m alive. Its one of the best movies of the year and one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. See it in IMAX 3D. It’s worth the money.

I loved everything about Gravity. The opening shot had me blown away. The effects blow Avatar out of the water and out of this world (no pun intended). Terrific acting, terrific direction from Alfonso Cuaron, mesmerizing camera work, phenomenal visual effects, and an amazing score. This is a movie you MUST see in theaters and on the biggest screen possible. If Stanley Kubrick were alive, he’d be congratulating Alfonso Cuaron.

Gravity is technically dazzling, featuring smooth and beautiful cinematography, great use of diegetic (or lack thereof) and non-diegetic sound, and meticulously-crafted mise en scenes courtesy of director Alfonso Cuaron. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney also impress with their performances. My only problems are that the story is perhaps too simple and some of the dialogue feels obvious and/or unnecessary at times. Definitely see this one on the big screen.

  • Callum Slater:

Grade: A

Visually spectacular, it has some of the most awe-inspiring effects I’ve ever seen, a powerful, philosophical story, memorable characters with award-worthy performances, great writing, and incredible direction. It gives you brilliant shots, long takes, and the feeling of you’re actually in space, with the same anxiety, fear, and feelings that the characters are going through. One of the best films in recent years, an incredible experience and one that deserves to be praised and seen.

This is probably going to end up being my favorite film of the year! What an amazing experience! I can’t remember the last time I’ve had an amazing experience at the movies. Alfonso Cuaron is the man; his direction and writing (with his son Jonas) is perfection. Sandra Bullock gives one of the best performances of the year, also of her career, and I hope she gets nominated for Best Actress. The visuals are incredible and this is a must-see in 3D. It’s worth the money, folks!
