Ashley Menzel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (10/10)
All around, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is a cinematic journey well worth the price of admission. The colorful characters and performances, special effects, and action all make this film by far the best, maybe even better than the original. See this film and be surprised, shocked, and overjoyed all at once. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will get you pumped and definitely leave you wanting more.
Daniel Rester: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (7/10)
For being the fifth movie in a franchise, this newest “Pirates” film is better than expected — and certainly better than the fourth installment. The movie introduces a few likable new characters while also giving some new layers to the old ones. It’s perfectly decent summer escapism, providing a lot of adventure and fun. The film does have a couple of gaping plot holes and it’s a bit forgettable, but it is entertaining enough for fans of the series.
Nick Casaletto: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (7.5/10)
I found Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales to be an adventure epic that’s all too distant from cinema today. Pirates fans will surely get their money’s worth and have plenty of new characters to fall in love with.
Bryan Sudfield: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (6/10)
While not on the level of greatness as the first, it’s definitely on the level of garbage like the fourth. This is a welcoming, yet messy return to the Pirates franchise. Johnny Depp is still cartoony as Jack Sparrow and the other performances are very good. I enjoyed the story here and while the pacing & script is sloppy, this was an absolutely entertaining piece of summer fun! If they decide to make another Pirates movie, I can’t wait to see the wackiness they continue to put in this franchise.
Scott Menzel: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (9/10)
This latest installment in the Pirates franchise is without question, the best film since the original. Johnny Depp is still at the top of his game as Jack Sparrow while the all new supporting cast holds their own. I loved Javier Bardem as Salazar and felt as a villain, he was as well-rounded as he was entertaining. The entire cast does great and it the film as a whole has a perfect blend of action, comedy and adventure. The Pirates franchise is here to stay and I for one can’t wait for the next installment. Keep this films coming as there is nothing else like them in Hollywood.
Average We Live Film Gradebook Score for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales: 7.9/10
