Following up the Academy Award-winning Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), the first trailer for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s new film The Revenant has been released by 20th Century Fox.

Watch it here:

Leonardo DiCaprio plays a man named Hugh Glass in the upcoming western, who sets out to get revenge on the men who left him for dead after being mauled by a bear.

The rest of the cast includes actors Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road), Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Will Poulter (We’re the Millers) and Lukas Haas (Inception).

Last year, Birdman took home some of the biggest awards at the Oscars, such as Best Picture, Best Writing and Best Directing for Iñárritu. Emmanuel Lubezki, who also won an Oscar for Birdman in the Best Cinematography category, teamed up with Iñárritu once again for The Revenant.

Many believe that DiCaprio has a chance of winning his first Academy Award for his role in the film. The actor has been nominated for his work in four different films, but has never once won.

The Revenant will receive a limited release on December 25, 2015, and a much wider release in January 2016.
