Similar to how Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans both appeared on the ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live last week to unveil the first Captain America: Civil War trailer to the public, Ben Affleck popped up on the same late-night talk show on Wednesday to premiere the second official trailer for DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Watch the trailer for highly anticipated superhero film below:
The last trailer released for the film was the one shown at San Diego Comic-Con back in July, which the majority of fans immediately fell in love with. Reactions to this new trailer have been a bit more mixed, but still positive for the most part.
The new footage not only further teases the conflict and battle that ensues between Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman, but it also gives us a better look at Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. In fact, Luthor brings a great deal of humor to the trailer, and if there’s one thing fans have complained about most when it comes to Man of Steel, DC’s previous outing, it’s the film’s overly serious tone. If anything, the trailer tells us that the studio is injecting some comedy into Dawn of Justice.
Undoubtedly, the most shocking reveal comes at the end of the trailer when supervillain Doomsday makes his debut. Reports say that in the film, Luthor creates Doomsday, a deadly monster, out of General Zod’s corpse, which is also shown briefly.
On top of the above mentioned names, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Shannon, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane and Holly Hunter all star in the film; Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, although unseen in the trailers, is expected to appear as well.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zack Snyder and scripted by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer. The film is set to be released on March 25, 2016.
