Michael Arndt, the screenwriter who wrote the script for the Academy Award-winning film Little Miss Sunshine and the critically acclaimed film Toy Story 3 is now in the talks to rewrite the Catching Fire script. Francis Lawrence has officially signed on as director after Gary Ross left the director’s chair. The film is set for a late summer production start, which means if Arndt does sign he will be tight on time to finish the script.
Sources say that the tight schedule is due to the fact that star Jennifer Lawrence has a commitment with Fox’s X-Men First Class sequel. Sources went on to say that is one of the reasons that director Gary Ross declined working on the sequel (because of the tight filming schedule). Simon Beautoy wrote the original drafts of the scripts based off the best selling novels written by Suzanne Collins.
