Going back into the danger zone, Top Gun 2 locks a team of writers after two years in the works. Paramount finds a team of screenwriters to take on the sequel to the classic 80’s film, Top Gun. Sources say that Paramount is looking to make a good sequel to the film and not just a cash grabber. It is believed that Paramount’s plan to make a good sequel is to add some edge to the film. The team of screenwriters behind the project are Christopher Mcquarrie (The Usual Suspects, The Tourist), Ashley Miller (X-Men First Class, Thor, Agent Cody Banks) and Zach Stentz (X-Men First Class, Thor, Agent Cody Banks).
Although nothing is yet official, it is rumored that Tom Cruise is going to be the main star in the film. Sources say that Tom Cruise has been talking about doing a sequel to his classic 1980’s hit for a while. Cruise is the only star to be attached to the film at this time. As far as a director goes, it is rumored to be that Tony Scott (Top Gun) is to direct the film, although this has not been confirmed. The film does however have two producers attached to it, Jerry Bruckheimer (National Treasure, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Con Air, Top Gun) and David Ellison (True Grit, Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, G.I. Joe Retaliation). Like many other fans, I look forward to this film.
