Although The Amazing Spider-Man reboot is still a while away Sony Pictures is in the pre-production stages of a Venom movie, which is a spin off of Spider-Man.
This project has been in the talks since 2008. Venom was the nemeses in the third installment of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man series, and although that series is over we still might see some more of Venom. For the people who do not know Venom is the symbiote alien that lives by connecting to a host, Venom first hosted to Spider-Man then to the human Eddie Brock.
There are no directors signed to the film yet, but one who is in the talks is Josh Trank. Josh Trank is the director of the critical acclaimed film Chronicle. There is also no cast attached to the project at this time, sources say that it is highly unlikely that Topher Grace will be taking on the role as the villain Venom. There is no other details about the film as far as a script or even a writer at this time.
