Among rumors that Taylor Kitsch has been offered a lead role on season 2 of True Detective comes an offer for the actor to star in the US remake of the popular Indonesian martial arts film The Raid.
Kitsch has starred in such action films as Lone Survivor and John Carter, so he is no stranger to the genre, although he will have big shoes to fill as The Raid: Redemption is a beloved film with impeccable action. The remake will be a Screen Gems film with The Expendables 3 director Patrick Hughes at the helm.
The Raid follows a SWAT team tasked with storming a building to take down a powerful crime lord. The situation worsens when the team gets trapped in the building and must fight their way to the top to complete their mission. The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2 are two critically acclaimed films by director Gareth Evans.
The script for this Hollywood remake will be penned by Brad Ingelsby and will begin shooting in January 2015.
