SUMMARY OF THOUGHTS: Rise of the Guardians benefits from Jude Law and Alec Baldwin’s vocal work, and comes with some stunning animation. However, some flat moments keep it from rising to total greatness.
- Gabriel Alcantara (Big Gabe):
While nothing groundbreaking, it’s really adorable, consistently funny, exciting and imaginative. Just a fun time for the kid in us all.
- Christian Becker:
This is solid entertainment. A kid-friendly adventure with many jokes and action scenes to keep one interested and happy. The voice work from the actors is also spot-on.
- Ryan Fecskovics:
What a pleasure. How did I not see this coming? The animation is marvelous, and I have little if any issues with the film. The film at certain points can be poignant. Yet, at the same time it was childish. Overall, I am shocked at the quality of the film. It was so good. Just so fun to watch.
- Ashley Gail (Nuffin Muffin):
A fun-filled family movie that brings back the joys of childhood and Christmas. Filled with big-name actors voicing familiar characters, Rise of the Guardians is a great movie for the entire family. Adults will love the escape back to their childhood and children will love the wonderment and magic that this 3D feature brings.
- Chad Gleason (MovieManCHAD):
They only reason it gets this grade is because of the beautiful animation. Everything else felt phony and rather dull.
- Zachary S. Marsh:
The movie looks stunning and the story is intriguing, but a lot of the humor does fall flat and the voice cast felt a little uninspired. It’s a fun, heartfelt, and gorgeous movie to take your kids to see, but it’s a shame that the partnership between DreamWorks and Paramount had to end with this.
- Scott Menzel:
One of the best holiday films that I have seen in quite some time. Rise of the Guardians has something for everyone and is an absolute blast to watch. The film is without a doubt one of my most stunning films of 2012 and the 3D effects actually amazed without feeling cheap. The voice talents from Baldwin to Law are dead-on and add character to the story. I also have to add that the story is both unique and original, especially for a family kid, making it one of the most enjoyable family films to sit through all year. Needless to say, I simply adored Rise of the Guardians and it made me feel like a kid again.
- Jake Peffer:
I had so much fun with this movie. All of the animation looks great and the voice acting couldn’t be more perfect. They add so many details to the characters and their stories that make everything so interesting. This is The Avengers for the younger crowd.
