SUMMARY OF THOUGHTS: While the original Taken was a guilty-pleasure action flick, its sequel is a poorly written, directed, and edited film. Liam Neeson is the only thing that keeps it from being a complete bomb.

Grade: D

Utilizing recycled material, incompetent direction (Olivier Megaton doesn’t deserve to make another film in his life), and a complete lack of heart and consistency that made its predecessor the cult film it’s become, Taken 2 is without question one of the worst, most unnecessary cash grab sequels I’ve ever seen in my life.

  • Ryan Fecskovics:

Grade: F

Should’ve not happened. It’s a mess. And it’s so bad (in my eyes) that I ran out as soon as the credits started.

  • Chad Gleason (MovieManCHAD):

Grade: D+

More of the same. Pointless, but I did like the car chase.

  • Daniel Hollis:

Grade: D

A film primarily made up of small moments that work but don’t mesh together in a concise fashion. It lacks the charm that made the original the fun borderline exploitation pick it was, and never reaches any level of true enjoyment.

  • James Michael Holtz (WeWatchedAMovie):

Grade: D

Completely pointless. If it were a video game, it would be downloaded online for free as extra content. Instead, they asked us to pay for boring action sequences and cardboard cutout villains.

  • Steven Hunt:

Grade: D

An atrociously edited, poorly written, useless sequel from one of the worst directors out there. Liam Neeson looks as if he doesn’t care, and the rest of the acting is pretty bad. If you love the first Taken, avoid this one at all costs and just watch the first one again.

  • Scott Menzel:

Grade: C

A completely pointless and unnecessary sequel. While Liam Neeson does a solid job with the flawed script, the film feels cheap and the story is beyond predictable. This film is loaded with all the typical cliched action sequences and at times is so stupid that as an audience member you just shake your head and ask yourself, “they didn’t just do that, did they?” All in all, it’s your typical action film but because of its predecessor it will be a solid hit, so get ready for Taken 3.

  • Willaim Bond Nunn:

Grade: D

The worst edited action movie I’ve ever seen, with dumb villains and a predictable story. One of the most unnecessary sequels ever made. I do not recommend seeing this movie.
