SUMMARY OF THOUGHTS: The Croods is the latest Dreamworks film to succeed by having plenty of heart and humor, as well as beautiful animation and terrific 3D.
- Christian Becker:
A very entertaining family escape with tons of bright and colorful visuals to keep children entertained. The jokes were clever enough to keep older audiences interested as well. The lush score and beautiful animated visuals really stand out.
- Chad Gleason (MovieManCHAD):
The story might not be original, but the animation, colors, look, and voice cast make this a must-see for families and anyone who loves to be taken somewhere they have never been. This one is a winner!!!
- Nick Iacobucci:
Maybe not on par with the characters and story of some Pixar films, but The Croods sure does give them a run for their money. This film is an original, fun romp with characters worthy of a soon-to-be-classic, and the 3D and visual imagery is some of the best that I have seen in quite some time.
- John Maffeo:
A funny, charming, and emotional family thrill ride that aims to please all audiences. If you’re looking for the best animated movie, you’d be mistaken, but this is definitely a pleasant surprise for those who may expect mediocrity.
- Zachary S. Marsh:
A highly enjoyable and visually stunning 3D movie that was a lot better than the trailers made it out to be. The strongest points are the voice actors, the 3D and animation, and the big climatic conclusion that has a lot more heart than one would expect. Definitely a great movie to see with the family.
- Kevin Morrison:
A good family film with great animation and some funny moments. The story falls a little short, however.
- Alex Perez:
I’d say the partnership with Dreamworks Animation and 20th Century Fox has gotten off to a pretty damn good start! Is this a perfect animated film? No, but it is definitely a very enjoyable one, and one that I surely recommend to all ages!
- Christian Ruvalcaba:
A surprisingly hilarious film for kids and adults. With a great story, amazing voice acting, and special effects that were jaw dropping, this friendly comedy has a great amount of heart and laughter for everyone.
