Midnight, Texas “Blinded by the Light” Review
Another girl has gone missing in Midnight, and the Midnighters are working together to try to find her. During the search for the girl, they finally learn the truth from Rev about the veil thinning in Midnight and the eventual evil that will come to them all. They mention the ways that the veil thinning has been impacting them. Fiji isn’t as optimistic and is being tortured by the demon. Manfred sees more and more spirits take over Midnight. Rev and Lem are more hungry than ever. The episode focuses much on finding the girl and whoever is the one who might have hurt her. They think that the person is human and it is the same person who is responsible for the deaths of other girls, including Bobo’s ex-fiancée Aubrey.
The search leads them to a place we might not expect. The episode itself is pretty well done and sets up the main focus of the next few episodes, although I found it to be predictable. It seems as though it just served as a stepping stone in the storyline and to focus the story on the evil that is coming to Midnight. The episode closes with a warning from Joe that Midnight is not safe and that someone will be coming for him.
Midnight, Texas continues to entertain, and I think these next few episodes will be crucial as to whether the show will continue or not. The handling of the “veil” story is critical. I have concerns regarding special effects but hope that it will surprise me.
