Theater Preview: Powerhouse Megan Hilty Brings Holiday Magic to the O.C.!

Kevin Taft's theater preview for A Merry Little Christmas with Megan Hilty, coming to the Samueli Theater at the Segerstrom Center in Orange County, CA, from Dec. 14-16, 2023.

Attention Broadway Enthusiasts, Ozians, and “Smash-Heads!” Get ready for a jolly reunion with your favorite blonde dynamo right in the heart of the O.C., and this time, she’s sprinkling a dash of Christmas magic all around!

Step into the enchanting Samueli Theater at the Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts, where Megan Hilty descends like a festive snowfall, ready to shower you with holiday merriment and goodwill in her own extraordinary way. This is a homecoming for Megan, who has graced the Samueli stage three times.

Not only that, but she also appeared in the original production of the musical “9 to 5” at Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theater and floated into the Pantages Theater as Glinda in “Wicked.” Over in New York, Hilty has dazzled in several productions, including the Encore series of “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and “Annie Get Your Gun” at the New York City Center.

While she’s no stranger to the limelight, Megan’s stint as one of the leads in the short-lived (but ardently adored) musical TV series “Smash” truly etched her name in households everywhere.

But that’s not all! Next year, Megan takes on the role of Madeline Ashton in the world premiere of the new musical “Death Becomes Her” – based on the cult classic comedy directed by Robert Zemeckis.

But before she dances with the dead, she’s bringing her star power back to Segerstrom’s Cabaret, and it’s a performance you won’t want to miss! Picture an evening adorned with her sharp wit, warm down-home charm, and unparalleled vocals—it’s destined to be a festive night to be cherished.

So, mark your calendars and join Megan Hilty as she spins a magical tapestry of joy and melody, making this holiday season truly unforgettable!

“A Merry Little Christmas with Megan Hilty” runs December 14-16, 2023, at the Samueli Theater at the Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts. For more information and for tickets, visit www.scfta.org.

Kevin is a long-time movie buff with a wide variety of tastes and fixations in the film world. He cried the moment Benji appeared onscreen in “Benji,” and it took him about four times to finally watch “The Exorcist” (at age 24) without passing out. “Star Wars: A New Hope” was the movie that changed everything and when his obsession with films and filmmaking began. A screenwriter himself (one long-ago horror script sale to New Line remains on a shelf), his first film "Two Tickets to Paradise" that he co-wrote premiered in June 2022 on Hallmark. He is currently working on another for the iconic brand.
