Christoph Waltz Joins “Bond 24”; Rumored as Villain

by Justin Cook

Christoph Waltz, the two-time Oscar winner from Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, will be joining Daniel Craig in 2015’s untitled Bond 24 film.

The actor’s role in the upcoming James Bond film still hasn’t been confirmed. However, many are speculating that Waltz will play the film’s antagonist. Waltz has played very effective villains in many films throughout the course of his career, including Inglourious Basterds, Water for Elephants, and The Green Hornet.

12 Years a Slave actor Chiwetel Ejiofor had been rumored to be playing the film’s villain, but it seems very likely that the role will end up going to Waltz.

Lea Seydoux, from Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Blue is the Warmest Color, and Dave Baustista, from this summer’s smash hit Guardians of the Galaxy, are both expected to join the film’s cast as well. Bautista will most likely play a henchman, while Seydoux will most likely play Bond’s love interest.

Sam Mendes is returning to direct Bond 24 after helming the franchise’s previous outing, 2012’s Skyfall. Skyfall was met with praise from critics and grossed over $1 billion worldwide. Ben Winshaw, Naomie Harris, and Ralph Fiennes will all be returning to the series, alongside Daniel Craig. The film is set for release in the UK on October 23, 2015, and in the US on November 6, 2015.

Waltz is a busy man, having many projects lined up over the course of the next few years. In fact, before the end of 2014, Waltz can be seen in Horrible Bosses 2 and Big Eyes — the latter of which may even result in another Oscar nomination for the actor. Even past that Waltz will be in blockbuster films such as Tarzan and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Bond 24 will be shooting in various locations around the world, including Italy, Morroco, Australia, London, and Mexico. Production on the film will be beginning next month.
