Help Support “When the Boys Walk In,” a Short Film by WLF Staff Member Daniel Rester

Hello film fans!

Most of you know me as one of the co-administrators and lead writers of WeLiveFilm. What you may not know is that I also write and direct films, and I am an award-winning student filmmaker.

I am currently working on a short film called When the Boys Walk In, which will work as one of my capstones at Southern Oregon University. The film tells the story of three young, male friends who are each in very different relationships. It takes an honest, funny, and emotional approach to its coming-of-age material. This project is an ambitious one, bringing together students from many departments to work on something that we hope will have a lasting impact even after we graduate college.

The script is complete, the cast and crew set, and the shooting dates and locations being worked out. The film will shoot in April and is aimed to be totally complete by mid-June, with a running time of around 30 minutes.

The reason I am writing this article, however, is because my group and I need your help. We are reaching out to the community using Indiegogo in order to try and get more funding for this passion project. We intend to use the funds to pay for upgraded camera equipment (lens, batteries, etc.), lighting materials, the acting talent, etc. Such things can help us make the film as professional as we want it to be.

Our goal is to reach $4,000. The deadline to contribute is March 24th, 2014, at 11:59 pm. Perks are involved for those who decide to contribute.

I truly do live film, whether it is in critiquing or filmmaking, and I believe many of the fans of this site do too. It would mean a lot to have some of the great WeLiveFilm community come together to help out a fellow film fan.

Thank you,

Daniel Rester
