Let me just be honest right away, I normally not a fan of Melissa McCarthy since she seems to base all her jokes around the fact that she is fat. I am one of the few people that thought Bridesmaids was vastly overrated and just like most critics, I found Identity Thief to be just another example of how bad most comedies nowadays have become. In my opinion, the only decent comedy McCarthy has been a part of was The Heat where she teams up with Sandra Bullock in Boston as two cops with totally different work ethics who are forced to become partners.
On July 2, 2014, McCarthy’s newest film, Tammy will open in theaters and while I wasn’t originally sold on the film after seeing the first teaser trailer, this new international trailer seals the deal. I don’t know what it is per say but the film looks and feels like a 90s comedy, which between the 80s and the 90s, I thought comedy was at its peak. This new trailer captures a lot of those moments and I would be curious to hear others thoughts on it.
Here is a little more information about the film as well as the cast listing:
Plot: After losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, Tammy hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother.
