“The Dark Knight Rises Continues to Own the Box Office”
by Hannah Everman
“The Dark Knight Rises” kicked off with a tragic opening night in Aurora, CO. However, it has still managed to stay on top at the box office. The film collected an estimated $36.4 million, keeping it at number one for the third consecutive weekend. All in all, the film has brought in $354.6 million so far.
The previous film, “The Dark Knight,” made roughly $39 million more than “The Dark Knight Rises” at this point in its running. Ticket sales were down 28 percent versus the same weekend last year, when “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” was new in theaters.
Overall, the Batman continues to trump all other heroes in the box office, at the moment.
