Opinion – The Razzies by Gabriel “Big Gabe” Alcantara

As much as I’d love to forget that the film Jack and Jill starring comedian/hack/asshole Adam Sandler ever happened, the fact is it did. Thankfully however, the film has fully been recognized for the complete cinematic shitpile it is. Jack and Jill is now the winner of 10 Golden Raspberry awards and has made Razzies history by making a clean sweep in every single category.

Obviously the film won “top prize” for Worst Film of 2011, though it should of won for worst film of the decade even though this decade is still young. Let’s hope a worse film is not created for the duration of this decade. Sandler won Worst Actor and Actress awards for playing dual roles as Jack and Jill. Al Pacino also won a Razzie for Worst Supporting Actor for playing himself. Dennis Dugan won the Worst Director Award not only for Jack and Jill but also for Sandler’s other star vehicle Just Go With It. Sandler minion David Spade was included and won Worst Supporting Actress for dressing in drag for the role of Monica. Other awards were Worst Screenplay, Worst On Screen Couple, Worst Ensemble Cast and Worst Prequel, Rip-Off, Remake or Sequel. The film is seen as a rip-off of Ed Wood’s Glen of Glenda.

Big Gabe’s opinion: This was the Razzies 32nd awards show. The question is can Sandler take the hint and avoid the 33rd, 34th, 35th and so on? Most likely not. Jack and Jill may have been Sandler’s most disappointing box office performer in years, in terms of his comedic films ($74 million in the US) but Just Go With It was a $100 million hit. Despite being panned by the critics, getting negative reactions from some audience members and having enough talent, money and power to do greater films, Sandler will continue to feed those in search of lowbrow comedy. His upcoming film entitled That’s My Boy co-starring Andy Samberg is proof of that.

Now I can go and on about what I think of Sandler but the truth is I’ve said it all before in various Facebook posts and even some of my YouTube videos. I do not wanna sound repetitive. The man can do whatever the hell he wants. I and those who are fed up with his ass must try to avoid watching anymore of his shit unless he comes out with something worth watching. What’s done is done and this horrible excuse for a movie has been fully acknowledged as one of Sandler’s worst films. It deserved every single Razzie award. It truly was a God awful film. It gave me chest pains, no bullshit. It is a disgrace to cinema and now everyone knows it. Justice has been served.
