Troop Zero was the closing night film at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival which is where I saw the film for the first time.  With Sundance 2020 only a few days away, Amazon Studios is releasing Troop Zero this weekend on Amazon Prime Video for the entire world to see. Troop Zero is a lighthearted and often delightful family film set in 1977. The film stars Mckenna Grace as Christmas Flint, a lonely social outcast who loves science and wishes she can travel to space to get away from her mundane trailer-park home in Wiggly, Georgia.

When Christmas discovers that there is an annual Birdie Scout Jamboree talent contest where the top prize winner gets to send a recording into space, she gets more than a little excited and begins to form a plan as to how she can win. With her love for all things space, Christmas, along with her best friend Joseph (Charlie Shotwell),  create their own scout group with one goal in mind: to win the talent contest.

Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to sit down with Viola Davis, Mckenna Grace, and Allison Janney to talk about Troop Zero and what it was like to be part of the project.  We spoke about what it was like working alongside one another but also what made being part of this film so special to each of them. Viola Davis shared her love for Mckenna Grace as well as Allison Janney while Janney shared what makes Grace such incredible up and coming talent. The interview with Davis and Mckenna ended with Mckenna Grace talking about how much she loves to sing and that her dream project would be starring in a musical directed by Taika Waititi.

You can watch both of these interviews below and be sure to check out Troop Zero on Amazon Prime Video available to stream now.

In 2015, We Live Film became We Live Entertainment. The domain name change occurred after months of debate but was done so that he and his fellow staff members could write about anything and everything in the world of entertainment.
