Tell me more, tell me more… about one of the most joyfully nostalgic nights L.A. has to offer! The Grease Sing-a-Long returned to the Hollywood Bowl in all its pompadoured, pink-jacketed glory—and it was electrifyin’!
Fans flooded the Bowl dressed as greasers, Pink Ladies, beauty school dropouts, and even the occasional Teen Angel. The sense of community was instant. Strangers became seatmates, and seatmates became singing partners as we all time-traveled back to Rydell High.

The evening kicked off with a dose of heart and hilarity from Frenchie herself—Didi Conn—who dished up behind-the-scenes secrets (Rizzo’s hickey? 100% real!) and shared why Grease still hits the mark decades later. She was joined by the T-Birds: Barry Pearl (Doody), Michael Tucci (Sonny), and Kelly Ward (Putzie), who had the crowd in stitches recounting improvised dance moves and on-set shenanigans (including Tucci’s wife seeing the movie in full for the first time!).
But the most moving moment came when Didi, the guys, and director Randal Kleiser paused to remember their beloved Sandy, the late, great Olivia Newton-John. The audience fell silent as they shared sweet, emotional memories of her kindness, talent, and timeless legacy, proving Olivia’s spirit is still very much part of the Grease family.
And just when we thought the nostalgia couldn’t crank any higher, out strutted John Travolta—yes, Zuko himself—decked out in a leather jacket and that unmistakable smirk. It was his first time at the Sing-a-Long, and even though his appearance was brief, the crowd lost its collective mind. Thunderous applause. Screams. Tears. All of it.
Throughout the screening, the crowd of 17,000 turned the Bowl into the ultimate high school reunion. Bubbles floated through the air during “Beauty School Dropout.” Pom-poms shook wildly at the pep rally. And during the drag race? A wave of yellow scarves rose like we were all on Team Danny.
Worried about bringing kids? Don’t sweat it. While the original dialogue remains intact, the on-screen lyrics cleverly skip the swear words with humorous animations that’ll give both kids and grown-ups a giggle.
Next up: the annual Sound of Music Sing-a-Long in September!
But for one night, Grease was the word—and the Bowl was the place where summer nights and sweet memories came roaring back to life.
