Mckenna Grace and Brooklynn Prince to Reveal HCA TV Awards Nominations on Thursday, July 8th, 2021

Awards ceremony to take place at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 22, 2021

Wednesday, June 30, 2021 (Los Angeles, CA) – The Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) announced today that Mckenna Grace (Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale) and Brooklynn Prince (Apple TV+’s Home Before Dark) will be announcing the nominations for the Inaugural HCA TV Awards on the HCA’s official YouTube channel beginning at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET on Thursday, July 8, 2021.

Over the past three months, the HCA has been working closely with networks, streamers, and publicists on revamping their categories and selecting key dates for the upcoming ceremony. “The level of interest and support that we have received for this event has been incredibly humbling,” notes HCA Founder Scott Menzel. The organization received over 1,200 submissions prompting the need to reevaluate their initial category selections that were announced back in March.

“As the number of television productions continues to increase, we wanted to make sure that the categories we created were reflective of the current television landscape,” adds HCA Co-Chair Ashley Menzel. The HCA’s goal is to celebrate the very best television has to offer and we believe that means acknowledging a wide variety of stories that are being told across all platforms and networks.

“It is important to not forget television’s legacy and where it all began,” suggests Scott Menzel. As the rise of streaming services paves the way for more series and more stories, including ones with bigger budgets, we want to make sure that we continue to honor the legacy of television by commemorating broadcast and cable series as well as ones on streaming platforms. We hope our ceremony will shine a light on a number of series that would possibly be overlooked due to the limited number of spots found in traditional television categories.

Born in New Jersey, Scott Menzel has been watching film and television since he was three years old. Growing up, he watched as many movies as he could and was highly influenced by the films of Tim Burton, John Hughes, Robert Zemeckis, and Steven Spielberg. Scott has an Associate's Degree in Marketing, a Bachelor's in Mass Media, Communications, and a Master's in Electronic Media. He has been writing film reviews under the alias of MovieManMenzel since 2003 and started his writing career as a contributing critic at IMDB.com and Joblo.com. In 2009, Scott launched MovieManMenzel.com where he posted several of his film reviews but in 2011 decided to shut down the site when he launched We Live Film.com. In 2015, We Live Film became We Live Entertainment. The domain name change occurred after months of debate but was done so that he and his fellow staff members could write about anything and everything in the world of entertainment.
