A brand new trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story dropped. Han, Chewie, Lando…what more could you ask for on a Sunday night?
Here are five things from the trailer that make me pretty excited about the upcoming movie:
1. For all the rumors floating around about Alden Ehrenreich taking on this iconic role – that he needed an acting coach and whatnot – I’m gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. First of all, he looks the part, with a fun twinkle in his eye and lots of swagger. But more importantly, he sounds like a younger version of Harrison Ford. I don’t think it will be a straight-on impersonation but judging from the trailer, I see Ford’s Solo imprints all over this – and that’s a good thing.
2. There’s lots of Han and Chewie time in this trailer and that tickles me, including the fact we find out that Chewie, at this time, is 190 years old! “You look great!” Han exclaims. But wait, at the end there, is Chewie going to get seriously injured?
3. Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian gives me life in this. He looks incredibly badass as the galaxy’s best smuggler. Maybe not as smooth as Billy Dee Williams, but Glover is going to have some fun with this. Plus, there’s a new droid to love. Its name is L3-37 and is Lando’s, right-hand man. Looks like there’s going to be some fun back and forth there.
There’s a whole bunch of action sequences, including one that looks like it’s from Snowpiercer, and plenty of Millennium Falcon shots, all spit-shined and brand new. Ah, I love that ship.
Finally, it’s leaving me with all kinds of questions on who the rest of the players are. Why does Woody Harrelson tell Han if he comes with them “you’re in this life for good”? Who is Emilia Clarke in all this and is she an old flame of Han’s? Is Paul Bettany the bad guy with a pretty messed-up face? And most importantly, is Jabba the Hutt going to make an appearance? I sure hope so.
