New Details and Images from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Director Matt Reeves has revealed a bit more about the primate dominated sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes that opens July 11th. “We’ve got apes on horses,” he told USA Today. “There is a sense in the beginning of the movie that apes have inherited the Earth. You see the species as it takes dominion over the planet. It’s an ape-world. That’s the fun of it.”

From the trailer and previous plot reveals, we’ve learned that humans have been mostly eradicated by a virus. Apes, led by Ceasar, have taken control and are trying to keep their dominance against a band of surviving humans, led by Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, and Keri Russell, who have formed a new colony in deserted San Francisco.

Though we aren’t quite in a world where the 1968 version of the story took place, we are getting ever closer. The most exciting thing about this reboot to many people is the beautiful blend of CGI and real life. This can be seen in the new stills provided by USA Today. Check out the gallery below:
