Oscar nominated screenwriter Chris Weitz (About A Boy, A Better Life) is now in the final steps to be signed as the screenwriter of the live action adaption of Disney’s Cinderella. Aline Brosh Mckenna (The Devil Wears Prada) was the first to pitch the idea along with a script. This idea became open in May 2010 after the huge success of the live action film Alice In Wonderland, which starred Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska. The live action adaption was directed by Tim Burton, the filmmaker who brought us Corpse Bride, A Nightmare Before Christmas, and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
Disney hasn’t signed any stars for their very anticipated adaption of the classic tale of Cinderella, they did however find a number of crew members. Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go) has been signed to direct the remake of the very beloved film. Simon Kinberg (Jumper, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter) has been signed to produce the live action film. Disney has not yet announced any other crew members to be attached to the project at this time, and it hasn’t released a date when it hopes to start filming.
