Walt Disney studios announced the release date for their live action film adaptation of Sleeping Beauty; the film is to be released March 14, 2014. Angelina Jolie is signed to play the lead role as Maleficent; sources say that this film will show a different side of the classic fairy tale.
The script for the retelling of the classic tale in a new way was written by Linda Woolverton , the writer behind films like The Lion King, Alice in Wonderland, and Beauty and the Beast. Directing the film is Robert Stromberg, who worked on films like Alice in Wonderland and Avatar; he, however, did not direct them, but we can still expect stunning visuals.
