‘Mockingjay – Part 1’ Declares Panem Forever in Promo

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" - News (Peeta and Snow Teaser) - We Live Film

‘Mockingjay – Part 1’ Propaganda Teaser Hits Web

by Matt Marshall

Lionsgate has kept a tight lip on Mockingjay – Part 1 for many months now. This time last year, two teasers were already released for Catching Fire. Granted, the spot Lionsgate released Wednesday morning is no trailer. It does, fuel the flame of anticipation for this third installment.

Brought to you from Panem TV, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) praises the good of the Capitol in this one minute clip. He is decked out all in white. White chair. White backdrop. Talk about visual purity. All this rhetoric of unity and sacrifice is carefully undercoated with oppression.

Snow states “If you resist the system, you starve yourself. If you fight against it, it is you who will bleed.” Pretty powerful words in such a calm tone. But he’s not alone. Standing by his side is Peeta.

That’s right. This is same Peeta who fought against President Snow in the past two movies. If you’ve read the books, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. But if you’ve only seen The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, it comes as a shock.

While this clip probably won’t make the actual film, this remains an effective start to the Mockingjay campaign. Summer 2014 has been in a slump so far and this couldn’t come at a better time. Hopefully an official trailer isn’t too far behind.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The highly anticipated sequel is due out November 21.

Tell We Live Film your thoughts on the spot down below. Are you more or less hyped for the release of Mockingjay?
