The writer/director of The Evil Dead film series is producing the remake to the 1982 film co-written and produced by Steven Spielberg — Poltergeist. Although there were rumors that Raimi would be directing the Poltergeist remake, he is not. He is however the head of searching for a director. David Lindsay-Abaire, who worked on Oz: The Great And Powerful, is penning the script for the film.This is the second horror film MGM is remaking, with the other being Carrie. Julianne Moore is trying to get the role as the mother and would play opposite Chloe Moretz.
Also up to be remade is Raimi’s own Evil Dead. Raimi is also producing this film. Directing the film will be Fede Alavarez. TriStar is the studio in charge of The Evil Dead remake, which will be hitting theaters April 12, 2013.
