Sundance Favorite Band Aid to be Released by IFC Films and Sony Pictures
My favorite film to premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival was Band-Ad. This wonderful and unique little film has officially been picked up for distribution. Band Aid is written and directed Zoe Lister-Jones who also stars in the film alongside Adam Pally. I was at the World Premiere of Band-Aid where the film received a standing ovation as Lister-Jones took to the stage after the screening. I went into great detail about the film and all the things I loved about it in my review from the festival. If interested, you can read my review ‘Band Aid’ is a Powerful and Creative Depiction of True Love which is completely spoiler free.
Below is the official press release from IFC and Sony Pictures about the film’s future release:
IFC Films has acquired rights to Band Aid, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews. IFC Films has acquired all North American rights. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) picked up all rights to the film outside of North America. Written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones, Band Aid had its world premiere in the U.S. Dramatic Competition section at the festival. The deals for the film were negotiated by WME Global and QC Entertainment.
“I am extremely proud of this film,” said writer/director Zoe Lister-Jones. “IFC Films & SPWA’s enthusiasm and passion for the project is beyond exciting, and I am delighted to work with them to bring Band Aid to a wider audience.”
Band Aid is the story of a feuding married couple, Anna (Zoe Lister-Jones) and Ben (Adam Pally), whose shared love of music makes for unconventional therapy, transforming their fights into song and ultimately forming a band with the help of their once-drummer neighbor Dave (Fred Armisen).
“Everyone at IFC Films is thrilled to be working again with the immensely talented Zoe Lister-Jones after our first collaboration on BREAKING UPWARDS,” said Jonathan Sehring and Lisa Schwartz, co-presidents of Sundance Selects/IFC Films. “BAND-AID is an incredibly impressive directorial debut feature – it is not only funny but also incredibly smart and inventive, proving Zoe is a true quadruple-threat as an actress, filmmaker, writer and singer-songwriter.”
BAND AID stars Zoe Lister-Jones (LIFE IN PIECES, CONSUMED), Adam Pally (HAPPY ENDINGS, JOSHY), and Fred Armisen (PORTLANDIA, ZOOLANDER 2). The film is produced by Lister-Jones, under her production company Mister Lister Films, with producer Natalia Anderson and Executive Producer Daryl Wein (Mister Lister Films). The film was financed by QC Entertainment with QC’s Ted Hamm, Sean McKittrick, Ray Mansfield, and Shaun Redick serving as Executive Producers.
