Rumors had been floating around for quite some time that Ben Affleck, who will star in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as the Caped Crusader, would be directing a Batman solo film. Not only has a recent report from Deadline proven these rumors to be true, but Affleck will also be co-writing the solo Batman film with The Flash and Arrow writer Geoff Johns.
The site also says that Johns and Affleck should have the script done by the end of the summer, before Affleck goes off to direct Live By Night, his recently green-lit project.
There is currently no set release date for the Batman solo film, but it will begin shooting after Affleck finishes his work on Live By Night.
Bruce Wayne/Batman is set to also appear in such DC films as Justice League Part One, Justice League Part Two and Suicide Squad (most likely).
Affleck has received a massive amount of praise for his directing on such films as Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo. In fact, Affleck has won multiple awards for the films he has directed, including Best Picture at the Academy Awards for Argo.
Warner Bros. will be holding their San Diego Comic-Con panel this Saturday, where they are expected to drop some very big news about their future projects.
