New on Blu-ray: Her, I, Frankenstein, That Awkward Moment

For the week of May 13, Spike Jonze’s Academy Award winner Her arrives on Blu-ray this Tuesday. Also set for release this week are I, Frankenstein from Lionsgate and comedy That Awkward Moment from Sony.

Her garnered plenty of acclaim the past few months with several Academy Award nominations. But it crowning achievement came Oscar night when Spike Jonze was awarded Best Original Screenplay.

Her is set in the near future. Joaquin Phoenix plays Theodore Twombly, a lonely letter writer who purchases as OS to assist him with everyday living. After a while, Theodore begins to fall in love with his OS, who he has named Samantha.

Several critics on We Live Film have praised Her. MovieManMenzel found Herto be a breathe of fresh air to the whole love story genre.” Daniel Rester believes it to be “a masterpiece” upon future viewings. Warner Home Entertainment is releasing Her this Tuesday as a Blu-ray, DVD, UltraViolet combo pack.

"I, Frankenstein" (2014) - Blu-ray Tuesday (We Live FIlm)

Lionsgate Films is releasing this week on home mediaI, Frankenstein is based on the graphic novel of the same name. Aaron Eckhart stars as Adam, Frankenstein’s monster who live in modern times. After years wandering, Adam finds himself in the middle of a war between gargoyles and demons.

I, Frankenstein has had its fair share of mixed and negative reviews. Mark Krawczyk felt the film wasn’t bad, “but rushed and slapped together, just like the monster.”

Lionsgate is packaging I, Frankenstein as a Blu-ray combo pack that also includes a Blu-ray 3D, DVD and UltraViolet digital copy.

The final major Blu-ray release this week comes from Sony. In That Awkward Moment, Miles Teller, Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan are three best friends looking to have a good time while being single. Sony is releasing That Awkward Moment as a single Blu-ray disc.
