First Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer and Poster

In 2014, director James Gunn took a little-known Marvel superhero property and turned it into a major blockbuster film, which earned the hearts of comic book readers, non-comic book readers and general moviegoers across the world, with Guardians of the Galaxy. In 2017, Gunn will reassemble the same ragtag group of anti-heroes in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, in hopes of delivering a finished product as good, if not better, than the first one. While fans will have to wait a few months longer before they finally get to see the film, today, Marvel Studios released the first teaser trailer and poster to hold fans over. Check out both down below:

The trailer is, of course, set to Blue Swede’s “Hooked on a Feeling,” which at this point has essentially become the theme song of the franchise. The song was not only played in Guardians of the Galaxy, but also in the very first trailer for the film.

Most of the major returning Guardians cast members make at least a quick appearance in the trailer, including Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Yondu (Michael Rooker) and Nebula (Karen Gillan). Not to mention, the adorable Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) is shown in the last shot of the teaser standing on Rocket’s shoulders.

The only spoken word dialogue in the trailer is a hilarious exchange between Quill and Drax, which highlights both the well-intentioned “quipiness” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the relationship dynamics between those on the team.

Joining the returning cast members are newcomers Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Kurt Russell (Ego), Elizabeth Debicki (Ayesha) and Chris Sullivan (Taserface).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the 15th movie in the MCU, is written and directed by Gunn and will fly into a theater near you on May 5, 2017.
