Being one of the more anticipated films for next year, the trailer certainly lived up to expectations — offering action, sleek and fast cars, heart, and great one-liners from characters we’ve come to love.
The movie is also especially bittersweet considering that actor Paul Walker, known for playing the role of Brian O’Conner in The Fast and the Furious series, will make his final on-screen appearance in this movie — having died last year from a car crash.
The film’s cast hosted a live Q&A before releasing the trailer, and said how important it was to finish the film after Walker’s death in order to honor his legacy. They also said that they made the movie for the franchise’s loyal fans who have always supported the films, making The Fast and the Furious franchise one of the most successful of all time.
Highlights of the trailer include cars driving out of an airplane and then parachuting down to the street, Dwayne Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs ripping off his arm cast using his pure muscle, and Jason Statham showing off his dark side as the film’s villain.
James Wan, who was handed over the franchise reigns by longtime series director Justin Lin, seems to have done an amazing job with the film, offering the signature over-the-top action fans have come to expect along with the sense of emotion and family that the other films have put so much emphasis on.
Wan also set up an amazing cast of actors including series regulars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Dwayne Johnson, and Lucas Black, along with newcomers Kurt Russell, Djimon Hounsou, Ronda Roussey, and Tony Jaa.
Furious 7 will be released on April 3, 2015.
