Today Marvel Studios held a major event in which they announced many exciting future films, including Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Thor: Ragnarok, and Inhumans.
Thor: Ragnarok has been given the earliest release date of the newly announced films, hitting theaters on July 28, 2017. Black Panther will come out in 2017 on November 3, while Captain Marvel is set for a July 8, 2018 release date. Only a few months later, Inhumans will hit theaters on November 2, 2018.
Get On Up and 42 actor Chadwick Boseman will be playing the title character of Black Panther in the upcoming film. He has earned much praise for his performances as James Brown and Jackie Robinson in recent years, and seems like a great fit for the role.
Black Panther will also make an appearance in Captain America 3, which is now officially titled Captain America: Civil War. He will apparently play a very large part in the film, and he will also definitely be in his Black Panther costume.
While on the topic of Captain America: Civil War, Kevin Feige said that the film will be it’s own distinct story from the comic version. Whether this means that the film will make major or minor changes from the popular Civil War storyline from the comic books is still unknown, but it will be interesting to see how it is adapted.
The next interesting bit of news is that The Avengers 3 will officially be split into two parts: Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 is set for a May 2018 release, while Part 2 will come out in May of the following year.
Marvel certainly went above and beyond and shocked fans at this press conference. After DC’s major announcements regarding the future of their films, Marvel was able to get the spotlight back on them. The Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to have a very strong lineup going forward.
