News – Brett Ratner to Direct “MTV” Film

By Dominic La-Viola

Brett Ratner is directing and producing a film about the history of MTV–how it went from music television to what it has become. Now as many of us know, that MTV which at one point was mostly music videos is now mostly reality TV. I think that the film will generate a lot of interest because of the fact that MTV is a modern cult phenomena that started in the 1980s, and has been very successful in attracting younger generations.

Sony Pictures is founding the film that is to be directed by Ratner and produced by Ratner and Jody Lambert. The film is based off the book I Want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution, which was written by Craig Marks. There is yet no word when they are going to start filming, or who is going to star in the film, however. I think this film could be just as good as The Social Network, which was a David Fincher film about the rise of Facebook. The Social Network was a very popular film and had received Oscar nominations in many categories. I believe this has the potential to become an Oscar-nominated film.
