At Star Wars Celebration 2015 in Anaheim today, details about the upcoming Star Wars spinoff film Star Wars: Rogue One were revealed during a panel.

The film will be set after Episode III (Revenge of the Sith) and before Episode IV (A New Hope). In the film, “a rogue band of fighters come together to steal the death star plans.”

Rogue One is set to be the first film in a series of Star Wars Anthology films, which is the title given to standalone films in the Star Wars universe.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that George Lucas “was really interested in exploring all the stories that existed inside the universe.”

A teaser for the film was also shown, which has not been officially released by Lucasfilm online yet. However, you can view a video of the teaser here:

The teaser trailer features a voiceover from Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi about how Jedi Knights are the “guardians of peace,” which is from a speech in A New Hope. A TIE Fighter flies over a jungle planet and the camera moves forward to show the Death Star under construction.

Greig Fraser, best known for his work on such films as Zero Dark Thirty and Foxcatcher, is the cinematographer of the film.

Felicity Jones will be playing a Rebel soldier in film. When talking about the character, Gareth Edwards, director of Rogue One, said, “We wanted to see fear, humor, and warmth.”

Edwards also said, “It’s about the fact that God’s not coming to save us. The absence of the Jedi hangs over the movie.”

Star Wars: Rogue One will hit theaters in December 16, 2016.
