After unveiling a third trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens last month, Disney stated that they wouldn’t be releasing any more domestic trailers for the film; however, that didn’t stop them from putting out an international trailer, which features loads of never-before-seen footage. Watch the Japanese trailer down below:
Despite Disney hyping and confirming release dates for each of the previous The Force Awakens trailers, the company surprised fans by posting this one to their Japan YouTube channel this morning with no warnings. Fans were understandably shocked to see the new cut, but seemed to welcome it with arms wide open.
Brand new footage in the trailer includes Kylo Ren holding up his lightsaber to Daisy Ridley’s Rey, Rey and John Boyega’s Finn introducing themselves to one another, a shot of C-3PO with Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron in the background and much more.
It is unknown at the time if Disney will release more international trailers before The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18, so we’ll have to wait and see.
J.J. Abrams directs Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which he also scripted along with Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt. The film’s large and diverse cast includes such newcomers to the series as Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow and Gwendoline Christie, and such returning cast members as Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and Tim Rose.
