The Big Bang Theory spinoff will show us what Sheldon Cooper was like as a kid. Iain Armitage IS Young Sheldon. Armitage was on a Television Critics Association panel with Jim Parson, who narrates Young Sheldon and produces. Here are some of the highlights of the Young Sheldon panel.

This is not the first time Iain Armitage has worn a bow tie.
“Oh, my goodness,” Armitage said. “So many times.”
Iain Armitage hasn’t seen much Big Bang Theory.
“I don’t want that much TV anyway, but it is aimed at a different audience than me,” Armitage said. “It’s not really for me. Also, I don’t watch a lot of TV. So not really, but I saw a couple appropriate clips.”
When he does watch TV, Iain Armitage is still a kid.
“Kid shows,” Armitage said are what he watches. “Let’s see, Wild Kratts, Nature Cat, that sort of stuff.”
But here’s what Iain Armitage spends most of his time doing.
“Well, usually, I occupy my time by reading books and playing a lot,” Armitage said. “I love doing that. I don’t like video games. I love stuffed animals and I love being around people.”
Also on the panel were Montana Jordan, who plays Young Sheldon’s older brother, and Reagan Revord who plays his sister.
“It’s a new character from the ground up, and it’s just great to work with him,” Jordan said.
“It is, like, the greatest thing that has ever happened to me in my whole entire young life,” Revord said. “Zoe [Perry] and Montana and Lance [Barber] and Iain, just everyone on this cast is, like, so nice.”

Parsons also spoke very highly of Armitage.
“My first meeting was when, after we had seen the audition, he was invited, me and Chuck [Lorre] and Steve [Molaro] met in Chuck’s office with him and his mother, Lee,” Parsons said. “I felt very quiet because this is very new to see actors on the other side of anything for me, even a young actor. I don’t want to get in their way in a weird way. So I kind of felt huddled in the corner of the couch for a while, and Iain came in, and you were just like you are, which is very open and receptive and excited to see people. He talked with us. Then we went over, and we recorded him on video in a more official way to send, I guess, to CBS or whatever it was. He was wonderful. I do remember you were wearing these great, kind of, Doc Marten boots. I think you had on maroon pants. It just kind of took off from there. He’s obviously very easy to talk to.”
Young Sheldon premieres Monday, September 25 at 8:30 after The Big Bang Theory and then returns to its time slot Thursday, November 2 at 8:30 on CBS.
