Ava DuVernay to Direct Film Adaptation of “A Wrinkle in Time”
Exciting news from Deadline today boasts that Selma director Ava DuVernay has been set to direct the film adaptation of the beloved book A Wrinkle in Time. The original story from the book was a 1963 Newbery Medal Winner fantasy. The script will be done by the Frozen writer and co-director, Jennifer Lee. DuVernay has also been offered to work on the new sci-fi thriller, Intelligent life for DreamWorks as well as a film attached to Lupita Nyong’o.
A Wrinkle in Time is the story of Meg Murry, a high school girl who takes an adventure through time and space with her younger brother Charles Wallace and her friend in order to rescue her father, a gifted scientist, from the evil forces, keeping him captive on a distant planet.
This is sure to be a hit with Disney and Ava at the helm. There are many details that are still in question such as who will be playing these iconic characters. Everyone has some favorites, I’m sure. I’m voting for Maggie Smith for Ms. Whichit and Jacob Tremblay for Charles Wallace Murray, the intelligent 5-year-old brother who can read minds. What are your thoughts on the film and who would you love to see star in the film?
