Today, at Brazil Comic-Con, director James Gunn unveiled the first full-length trailer for next year’s sequel to 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The trailer has come about a month and a half after Marvel gave fans a sneak peek at Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, Dave Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon and Vin Diesel’s Baby Groot all back in action in the film, as a way of holding audiences over until more footage hit the web. Check out the hilarious trailer down below…
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the stand-out of the trailer is Baby Groot, who adorably beats up a Ravager and tries desperately to listen to Rocket’s instructions and not press the wrong button. However, Pom Klementieff’s Mantis, who makes a memorable appearance towards the end of the footage, is involved in one of the trailer’s funniest moments and also a clear highlight.
Additionally, the trailer is set to Sweet’s “Fox on the Run”; it seems safe to assume that the song will be one of the featured tracks on Awesome Mix Vol. 2.
Gunn and the whole cast are undoubtedly bringing their A-games to the highly-anticipated sequel. The film has a legitimate shot at outgrossing its predecessor Guardians of the Galaxy, which shocked box office analysts everywhere in 2014 when it brought in close to $775 million worldwide.
Reports have suggested that the film directly after Guardians Vol. 2 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: Homecoming, will have its first trailer debut alongside Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, so Guardians most likely isn’t the only Marvel movie trailer being released this month. Rogue One hits theaters on December 16th, which means that the world will see footage of Tom Holland in his first Spider-Man solo movie as soon as around a week from today.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will zoom into UK theaters on April 28, 2017 and US theaters on May 5, 2017.
