Countless amounts of people attempt to scale Mount Everest every year, some being more successful in their climbs than others. In 1996, a group of men found themselves in the middle of a blizzard, while at a high altitude on the mountain. The film is based off of Jon Krakauer’s bestselling book Into Thin Air, published the following year, about the storm and the events that took place on the mountain.
Parts of the film were actually shot in Nepal, towards of the bottom of the massive mountain.
Judging from the trailer, Everest looks like an intense, suspenseful and captivating film, in the same vein as 2012’s Liam Neeson-led survival film The Grey.
Everest opens in theaters on September 18, 2015.
