“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” Characters Revealed in New Images

Happy Star Wars Day! In celebration of May the 4th, set photos and new information from Star Wars: The Force Awakens have been released online by Vanity Fair.

Legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz traveled to Pinewood Studios in London to take pictures of certain characters/actors from the set of the film.

First off, check out the cover of the June issue of Vanity Fair, which includes Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca, Daisy Ridley as Rey and John Boyega as Finn.

A picture of Adam Driver confirmed that he would be playing the villain Kylo Ren in the film. The picture below is the first of the character without his mask on.

Lupita Nyong’o’s character was revealed to be named Maz Kanata. The tracking dots on her face are being used to “transform” her into the C.G.I character.

Another new addition to the Star Wars cast, Oscar Isaac, who will play X-wing pilot Poe Dameron, is photographed next to his ship.

A group of creatures described by the site as “Galactic travelers, smugglers, and other assorted riffraff” can be seen outside the castle of Maz Kanata.

In the two photos below, director J.J. Abrams can be seen both directing Ridley for a scene involving her character, and sitting with other important behind-the-scenes icons such as composer John Williams, co-writer Lawrence Kasdan and president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy.

Lastly, Star Wars Universe unveiled a picture of Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma, who was briefly seen in the second Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.

On top of all the names mentioned above, Star Wars: The Force Awakens also stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fischer, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow.

The film will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
